Michael J. Fields
Lt. Governor Division 30

On behalf of Governor Dick Olmstead, and myself welcome to the 2011-2012 Carrier of Service!

First, I want to thank Immediate Past Lieutenant Governor, Debbie Scheibel, for her leadership and service over the past year.

In 2011-2012, I plan on building on the work started by Past Lieutenant Governor Debbie Scheibel, to make Division 30 the best Division in Cal-Nev-Ha District.

With recent changes (instituted by Division 30), Kiwanis International made the process of chartering a new club easier. With these changes it has become a real possibility that Division 30 will be able to charter a new club in Placentia by the end of 2011.  Under the leadership of Debbie Scheibel (Club Building Chair) we will continue to look for opportunities to build new clubs.

In addition to club building, in 2011-2012, I want to focus on making sure that the 10 clubs that currently make up Division 30 are strong, active clubs. To that end Steve Forster (Immediate Past President of the Kiwanis Club of La Mirada Club) has been specially trained as a club counselor.  Steve (Forster5150@verizon.net) will be happy to meet with you and develop a plan to make your club stronger.  Once you have a plan, I will bring all the resources available to me to implement that plan.

As you can see, the division newsletter is in different format than it has been in the last few years (thanks to MS Word templates).  It is my intention to use the division newsletter as a means of keeping the 2011-2012 leadership team informed of events happening around Division 30 but also as a tool to educate and inspire our fellow Kiwanians.

In each issue you will find a perspective piece from the Lt. Governor (that’s me), a Kiwanis inspirational/educational article, a calendar of upcoming events for the month, a list of DCM host clubs and news from around the district. I hope you will find the new Newsletter format to be informative and that you will share it with you membership.

If you have an event you want on the district calendar, please it to me by the 25th of the month prior to the event.

In Kiwanis Service

Mike Fields,
Lt. Governor
