History of the Kiwanis Club of Fullerton
August 21, 1921
Kiwanis club of Fullerton chartered.
1923
Sponsored La Habra Club
Sponsored Boy Scout Troop 93 (Continuing)
1926 - Established Scholarship / Loan Fund (We will give over
$7500 in scholarships this year.)
March 8, 1934
Irvin "Ernie" Chapman becomes a member of the club. When he died
August 5, 2002, Ernie had 68 years of membership, with 66 years
perfect attendance!
Club builds 1st wading pool in Amerige Park. Continues to build
wading pools which are a part of life in Fullerton !
1943
Ernie Chapman serves as Lt. Governor (coordinates activities for
14 clubs in Division 30).
1947
Built room addition to YWCA House.
1953 - Ernie Chapman elected District Governor (coordinating
activities for over 700 clubs in California-Nevada-Hawaii)
1964 - Started Otto Evans Memorial Annual Pancake Breakfast (See
Fundraisers)
1975 - Chartered Placentia Kiwanis Club
1981 - Chartered Yorba Linda Kiwanis Club.
1988 - Started Apple Sales, Golf Tournament (See Fundraisers).
1989 - Started Shopping Spree for needy children.
1991 - Inducted 1st woman into our club (Rae Zick).
1994 - 1st female club president.
1995 - Club bulletin honored as best in District.
1996 - Two-Step for Tiny Tots event with Soroptemists to buy
infant safety seats.
1998 - Largest shopping spree bought Christmas clothes and hosted
party for 68 children.
1999 - Club honored in CAL-NEV-HA for multiple service projects -
best club of its size.
Started tutoring project with Boys / Girls Club.
2000 - Chartered Circle K Club at Fullerton College.
Chartered Key Club at Fullerton High School.
Participated in monthly graffiti paint-outs to beautify Fullerton.
Club again honored in CAL-NEV-HA for multiple service projects -
best club of its size.
2001 - Club third straight time honored in CAL-NEV-HA for multiple
service projects - best club of its size.
