2012 SHO YAMADA SCHOLARSHIP

Division 30 and the Kiwanis Club of Cypress are proud to announce the availability of the Sho Yamada Scholarship for 2012!

The Sho Yamada Scholarship is a $500 scholarship offered by the Cypress Kiwanis Foundation in memory of our Past President and Division 30 Past Lt. Governor, the late Sho Yamada.

The Scholarship is awarded to one student from a Division 30 Kiwanis Club, sponsored Key Club, KIWIN'S Club or Circle K Club that best exhibits the goals and objectives of Kiwanis.

Each Kiwanis Club in Division 30 is entitled to nominated one student for the Sho Yamada Scholarship.

The criteria for awarding the Sho Yamada Scholarship are as follows:

  1. Be a graduating or continuing SLP member from a Division 30 sponsored club,
  2. Be active in SLP and Kiwanis,
  3. Has tried to improve the quality of life in their community by adhering to the goals and objectives of Kiwanis International and,
  4. Has shown the desire and ability to achieve a higher education.
     

Note: A nominee not associated with SLP will be considered if the nominating club does not sponsor an SLP organization at their school.

The recipient of the Sho Yamada Scholarship will be determined by a committee comprised of the Lt. Governor, Immediate Past Lt. Governor, a representative of the Cypress Kiwanis Foundation and, President of the Kiwanis Club of Cypress.

Nomination forms include two (2) letters of recommendation and all other pertinent information must be received by Saturday, March 10th, 2012. The Sho Yamada Scholarship will be awarded during the Cal-Nev-Ha Governor’s official visit on March 17th, 2012.

Nomination forms along with the letters of recommendation should be sent to the Kiwanis Club of Cypress, PO Box 347,Cypress, Ca 90630 or e-mailed to fieldsmj@earthlink.net (please indicate Sho Yamada Scholarship in subject line).   Electronic signatures will be accepted.  All forms must be received by Saturday, March 10th, 2012.
